The Hon’ble Union Minister, Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, Dr Virender Kumar, joined SO Bharat virtually , interacting with the Athletes, in observance of the World Day of Social Justice.
6 March to 6 April 2022
Special Olympics Bharat trained 155 Assistant Clinical Directors (ACD) through In-person training programs held at Kochi, Pune, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Delhi and Ahmedabad held between 6 March and 6 April 2022, while 8482 medical professionals were trained through the virtual platform between 21st – 25th March 2022. The ACD was created as a new unit of medical experts, to support the scale of the event and fill up in locations where the Clinical Directors were not present

Keeping the health and safety of all members of the movement as paramount, Special Olympics looks forward to having their Athletes ‘Return To play’ . This may be executed in a phased manner, according to the existing status of the pandemic in the country and in strict compliance with the country’s Covid protocols.
The pandemic especially pushed Persons with Intellectual Disabilities back into isolation and inactivity, a space that Special Olympics is constantly striving to diminish. Keeping the health and safety of all members of the movement as paramount, Special Olympics looks forward to having their Athletes ‘Return To Play’. In India the program is set to roll out on the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, covering three components. While the National Health Fest for Divyangjan -WE CARE will entail medical screenings of 75000 Athletes carried out by 7500 trained (as per Special Olympics Health guidelines) medical professionals across 75 cities, on the World Health day, Fit 5 potentially in collaboration with the Fit India Mission, will be demonstrated at the venues the same day. The third component, namely, the earmarked 750 Sports Centres will be launched and would establish a permanent space for regular sports and expanded Inclusive experiences
Following the launch of the program on 3 December 2021, Special Olympics Bharat has opened registrations of Medical and Sports professionals and will open for the Athletes in January 2022. SO Bharat is constantly reaching out to stakeholders who would be interested to collaborate and support the Inclusion Revolution
