The Special Olympics Leadership Academy, established in 2014, is an award-winning program dedicated to developing inclusive and future-ready leaders of the Special Olympics Movement. With a focus on developing inclusive mindsets, providing skillsets, and practical tools, the Academy aims to build capacity and strengthen leaders’ abilities to achieve inclusion globally. Athlete leadership is integrated into Program Leadership training to ensure athlete leaders are embraced and provided meaningful roles. A Unified leadership approach has been integrated into program delivery and development of all leaders. The aim is to cultivate and support the growth of diverse leaders at all levels by providing ongoing, graduated learning opportunities that further professional development and performance.
The first ever offline Athlete leadership Training was held in India from 8 March 2024 to 22 June 2024 in New Delhi, through the support of Macquarie. Report
