A total of 1266 Special Olympics Bharat athletes have participated in nine World Summer Games and six World Winter Games between 1987 and 2019.They have won 444 gold, 504 silver and 551 bronze medals in the world summer and world winter games winning a combined count of 1499 Medals. Details

Special Olympics World Summer Games Berlin Germany 2023
17 – 25 June 2023, Berlin, Germany will welcome 7,000 Special Olympics athletes and Unified partners from approximately 170 countries to compete in 26 sports.
The athletes will be supported by more than 3,000 coaches and 20,000 volunteers. India is preparing 202 Athletes and partners and 59 Coaches to participate in 15 Sports

Special Olympics World Winter Games Kazan Russia 2023
In January 2023, Kazan was geared to welcome more than 2,000 athletes from over 100 nations as the host city of Special Olympics World Winter Games. Athletes with intellectual disabilities will compete in seven sports: alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, figure skating, floorball, short-track speed skating, snowboarding, and snowshoeing. figure skating and snowshoeing etc.
49 Athletes and 15 Coaches from SO Bharat were preparing to participate in six out of the seven sports (with an exception of cross country skiing) featuring the World Games, namely, Alpine Skiing , Figure Skating, Speed Skating, Snow Boarding, Snow Shoeing and Floorball.

Special Olympics Sweden Invitational Games 2020
Special Olympics Sweden Invitational Games 2020 were held in Åre and Östersund between 1st and 4th of February. Two speed skating probables- Tanshu and Rachna from Haryana with two Coaches led by the Head of the delegation represented India. Tanshu won 2 Gold and Rachna won 2 Silver Medals
The games featured competitions in alpine skiing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, snowboarding, figure skating, speed skating and floorball
Over 450 athletes – both national and international – from 19 countries participated in the competitions as well as other activities and events during the games. Special Olympics Sweden Invitational Games were the test games and the warm up – to the Special Olympics World Winter Games
Special Olympics World Summer Games 2019
The 15th Special Olympics World Summer Games will take place in Abu Dhabi from 14-21 March 2019 and will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE’s Armed Forces. With more than 7,500 athletes from over 192 nations competing, Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019 will be the largest sports and humanitarian event in the world and will set the benchmark for the most unified Games in the 50-year history of the Special Olympics movement
Four days prior to the Opening of the games all the delegations would be paired with communities throughout all seven Emirates as part of the Host town Program. The Host Town program will provide a chance to experience the UAE’s culture and hospitality.
This would be India’s 9th participation at the SO World Summer Games. The 378 – strong SO Bharat contingent would include 289 Athletes and 73 Coaches along with 16 officials and Assistant Staff from all over India participating in 14 out of 24 Olympic-type sports featuring the mega event. Cash Awards to Coaches – Ministry Of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt Of India
The Ministry Of Youth Affairs & Sports would grant Cash Awards to Coaches who have trained the Athletes who participated in the 2019 Special Olympics World Summer Games Abu Dhabi UAE. The Coaches must fulfill the below criterion:
- The coach should have trained the Athlete for 180 days ( irrespective if the particular coach was selected for the world Games or not )
- There should be documented parent consent stating that the Athlete was trained by the concerned coach.
- The Assessment of the concerned athlete should have been maintained by the concerned coach and submitted for record

- The Concerned Coach should fill the form and submit in the National Office through their respective Area Director. No direct correspondence will be entertained
- Both the forms (Proforma and Mandate) should reach the National Office by 28 April 2019. The National Office will submit the forms, after this date, with the Sports Authority of India

1st Preparatory Camp
410 Athletes and 129 Coaches from 27 states of India will be participating in the first preparatory Camp for the Special Olympics World Summer Games 2019 Abu Dhabi to be held from 24-28 March 2018 across different venues in Gurgaon. 11 Sports will be conducted on 25, 26, 27 and 28 March from 6AM – 8 AM and from 3PM – 6:30PM. The sports are: Badminton, Athletics, Cycling, Aquatics, Basketball, Golf , Handball, Judo, Roller Skating, Table Tennis, Volley Ball
India will be participating in 14/15 out of 24 Sports featuring the Games. The Camp will be in continuation to the Camp held in Bhopal , Madhya Pradesh from 5-10 March 2018 carrying out training in 2 Sports, namely, Unified football and Powerlifting. While 45 Athletes (Male) and 25 Coaches participated in the 7–a-side and 11-a-side Unified football, 25 Male & Female participants and 9 Coaches participated in powerlifting.

The SO Bharat contingent returned to India on 25 March 2017 with 37 Gold, 10 Silver and 26 Bronze summing to 73 Medals following their participation at the Special Olympics World Winter Games 2017. India had sent 89 Athletes to compete at the mega event that witnessed participation of 2500 Athletes from 105 Nations:

The Unified Floorball Team Female secured the 5th place while the Female Floorball (traditional) team ranked 6th

About India’s Participation at the Special Olympics World Winter Games to be held in Austria from 14 March-25 March 2017In addition to India, ESPN’s coverage was carried in 190 countries and territories around the world making it the widest-reaching coverage ever for a Special Olympics World Winter Games.
The Games were held throughout Austria in three primary locations: in Graz (the second largest city in Austria and capital of Styria), Schladming (Alpine Skiing World Championships in 1982 and 2013) and Ramsau (Nordic Skiing World Championships in 1999).
Special Olympics Bharat (SO Bharat) sent a delegation of 140 Athletes, Coaches ,Youth Leaders, Families and Officials. 89 SO Bharat Athletes and 23 Coaches participated in 7 out of 9 sport disciplines featuring the World Games. These 7 sports are:
Alpine skiing, Snow Shoeing, Snow Boarding, Figure Skating, Speed Skating,Floor Hockey and Floor Ball including Unified Floor Ball.
