Amrapali is the founder of Milestones a multi-disciplinary organization serving families of children with special needs in Delhi-NCR since 2008. With more than 20 years of experience of working with children with autism and developmental disabilities, she currently oversees the team of therapists for the clinical and home program section of Milestones.
Graduating as the top student from the National Institute of Locomotor Disability (NILD – Kolkata) at an undergraduate level, Amrapali completed her Master’s in Healthcare Administration in 1998. She is a certified ‘Brain -Gym’ therapist (Edu-K Singapore), ‘HANDLE’ Therapist, Oral Placement Therapist, ‘SEARCH & Teach’ practitioner and Feeding Therapist. She has additionally trained for the ‘King of Swings’ program under Alexander Lopiccolo and undergone multiple practical exposures at the Bobath Center London for ‘Neuro Developmental Therapy’.
Amrapali has extensive clinical experience with assessment and program development that is designed to treat challenging behaviors, build communication and functional life skills. Some of the team-based intervention that she incorporates are the Principles of Sensory Integration Therapy, Neuro Developmental Therapy (NDT) and customized programs incorporating Early Start Denver Model (ESDM), Floor time model etc. for early intervention.
Amrapali has trained & supervised several teams of therapists, parents and other professionals on Sensory Motor Development, Visio Perceptual Development, Handwriting & Fine motor skills development under the aegis of Milestones, NIPCCD, ORKIDS & Action for Autism.
She has proactively initiated virtual and blended training for caregivers & parents for execution of home-based programs across multiple states of India and in Bangladesh to improve the quality of life for the children.
She assists with the development and implementation of evidence-based treatment approaches, in addition to providing clinical guidance and mentorship to the milestones team. In the past she has been associated in full time and part time capacities with organizations such as Tamana Special School (Delhi), British School (Chanakyapuri), Sita Ram Bhartiya Hospital and Children’s First.
Her work and contributions have been acknowledged by The Deendayal Upadhyay Institute for the Physically Handicapped New Delhi, National Institute for Locomotor Disability Kolkata, Mahavir Puraskar (Govt of Bihar) , Modern School (Humayun Road -New Delhi) Step By Step School – Noida , FROBEL ,Nishpap & FARE Bangladesh to name a few.
Amrapali is the mother of two children and understands the importance of considering the needs and wants of all members of the family when establishing therapy goals. She spends her spare time with her children and husband, reading, and travelling.
