Dr. Amitav Mishra has been actively involved in clinical, teaching and research activities in the area of disability management and education since 1990. He is currently working as Professor at Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi. Dr. Mishra graduated in the subject of mental retardation (BMR) with gold medal from the National Institute for the Mentally Handicapped (Osmania University, Hyderabad)
Dr. Mishra has been providing active voluntary services to Special Olympics since 2004 in the capacity of State Director for Uttar Pradesh, Utrakhand, and Programme Director for North & Central India. Currently he Advisor- ID (Intellectual Disability) to the Governing Board of Special Olympics Bharat Program.
Prof. Mishra has been honored with several awards such as ‘Eunice Shriver Kennedy Award’ from Special Olympics; ‘Derozio Award’ from Indian Council of Secondary Education, New Delhi for Human Enrichment and Education; Governor’s Award for Excellence in Services to Persons with Disabilities (Government of Uttar Pradesh)
