Keeping the health and safety of all members of the  movement as paramount, Special Olympics looks forward to having their Athletes ‘Return To play’ . This may be executed in a phased manner, according to the existing status of the pandemic in the country and in strict compliance with the country’s Covid protocols.

The pandemic especially pushed Persons with Intellectual Disabilities back into isolation and inactivity, a space that Special Olympics is constantly striving to diminish. Keeping the health and safety of all members of the movement as paramount, Special Olympics looks forward to having their Athletes ‘Return To Play’. In India the program is set to roll out on the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, covering three components. While the National Health Fest for Divyangjan -WE CARE will entail medical screenings of 75000 Athletes carried out by 7500 trained (as per Special Olympics Health guidelines) medical professionals across 75 cities, on the World Health day, Fit 5 potentially in collaboration with the Fit India Mission, will be demonstrated at the venues the same day.
